Gardener's Dictionary: Acidic

Acidic (adj.): Soil with a reading below 7.0 on the pH scale. Soil acidity determines how well your container plants will grow. Any potting soil that is too acidic or too alkaline affect container plant growth in the balcony garden. Acidity can be measured with a pH test kit and fixed with lime if too acidic. Acidic soil is also called “sour” soil.
