Gardener's Dictionary: Companion planting

Companion planting (n. or v.): The practice of growing multiple plant species near each other to aid in nutrient uptake, pollination, and to attract or repel certain insects. Marigolds planted near tomato and pepper plants, for example, help deter nematodes, beet leaf hoppers and other common garden pests.
