Some plants that may grow too big for your balcony container garden may do well when grown as bonsai. Bonsai is a very complicated growing technique that consists of trimming, pruning, clamping and much more, in order to grow plants to look like tiny trees. But if you're up to learning more about bonsai and have the patience and skill for it, you can grow plants like bougainvillea or azaleas as bonsai, which look absolutely beautiful – like tiny flowering trees! Once you perfect your bonsai technique with your bougainvillea or azalea bush, you may want to branch out (pun intended) to full-on trees, such as juniper, cypress, spruce – or even small forests of trees!
