Orchids need warmth, humidity and moving air. Talk about a needy plant! Make sure your orchid flower isn't exposed to drafts – air from an open window or vent may dry it out and kill it. Also keep the air around your orchid humid, with either a humidity tray (a tray with rocks and water) or mist its leaves each morning with distilled water. And finally, picky orchid varieties do best with warm, humid, moving air. Get a small fan to keep air circulating around your orchid at all times. While it's not necessary, other indoor plants will benefit from a fan, as well, as stagnant air can lead to plant disease and garden pests.
